Benefits of trading in your old Kindle

Trading in your old Kindle through the Kindle Trade-In Program offers several benefits:

  1. Convenience: The Kindle Trade-In Program eliminates the hassle of selling your old device independently. Instead of dealing with potential buyers, you can simply ship your device to Amazon and receive credit toward a new Kindle.
  2. Cost savings: By trading in your old Kindle, you can save money on purchasing a new device. The trade-in credit can be applied towards the cost of the new Kindle, reducing the overall price you need to pay.
  3. Environmental impact: Trading in your old Kindle promotes sustainability by giving your device a second life. Instead of ending up in a landfill, your old Kindle will be refurbished or recycled, minimizing electronic waste.

Factors to consider before trading in your device

Before deciding to trade in your old Kindle, consider the following factors:

  1. Device condition: The condition of your old Kindle will determine its trade-in value. If your device is in good working condition with minimal wear and tear, you are likely to receive a higher trade-in value.
  2. Device model: The trade-in value may vary depending on the model and generation of your Kindle. Newer models generally have higher trade-in values compared to older ones.
  3. Personal preferences: Consider whether you are ready to upgrade to a new Kindle or if you are satisfied with your current device. If you are attached to your old Kindle or have customized it to your liking, trading it in may not be the best option for you.

  1. Hi, good info, thanks. I just wasted an hour with 4 different Amazon customer service people who didn’t know any of this info. I sent a device to trade in on November 26, (it was received by the UPS carrier) it tracked as arriving to Amazon on December 6. (it’s December 11 today)
So I was hoping for the 20% credit for a different device and of course the new device is on a decent sale & I was hoping to be able to get the sale price along with the 20% off. Apparently there’s no way to do that. By the time they hopefully do their thing the sale will be long over. The device I sent them is in pristine condition and I sent it well packaged but I’ve also read they can refuse a device as being in non-working condition for no reason.
All I was asking their reps is “how long does it normally take for Amazon to evaluate a trade in device?” They were completely unable to understand what I was asking and I was shoved to 4 different people, none of whom knew anything about it. I was an idiot not to just google that question. I loathe dealing with their customer service anymore. It’s like they are determined to misunderstand customers and it takes over an hour after they shove you from one rep to the next.
