Lewis Cantley is an American biochemist best known for his discovery of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and its role in cell signaling and cancer. His work has fundamentally shaped modern understanding of how cancer cells grow and survive, influencing countless therapeutic approaches. Cantley directs the Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center at Weill Cornell Medicine.
